My first cleanse areas of concern were:
#1 energy
#2 abdominal bloating
#3 weight.
#1 My energy has been much better. I was literally concerned that something was majorly wrong with me but have discovered it is the way I feed and treat my body.
#2 I haven't had hardly any bloating this past year but when I did, I can completely trace it back to my eating habits. I still ate several smoothies throughout the year and had purchased an additional protein powder from my doctor.
#3 Weight....My Achilles heal. I need to loose weight. I am turning 36 this year. I can feel my body responds differently. We have a health club membership and up until midsummer, we went very faithfully and then
Today I will be making out menus and grocery shopping. I am very excited to do this again! I would still love to hear from those who are doing cleanses. A great community of people is a great help!
Are you still doing it? I just started yesterday on the advice of a RD recommended to me by my GP. I have metabolic syndrome (high BP, high lipids, etc.) that I'm hoping can be controlled by diet. I definitely don't want to start taking statins!
ReplyDeleteI'm in the process of tweaking the shakes. The first one I made yesterday morning was horrible! I made it based on the RD's advice -- 3/4 c. frozen mixed berries, a handful of baby spinach, 1 c. water and 2 scoops of the Complete powder plus 2 scoops of the whey protein powder. It was barely drinkable!
In the afternoon I added 2 oz. frozen banana, about 2T cold almond milk and less water. It was better but I don't like the smell of the powders. It also leaves a metallic aftertaste in my mouth.
This morning I increased the berries to 1 cup with about 1/2 c. water and it tasted better.
How do you make your shakes?
Hope you are still at it and doing well!
Hey! I am sorry I did not get back with you. I had some personal things which came up and I quit....after one day. But today I am starting it again. How did things go with you? This is late but I find that I have to have a banana in all my shakes. It helps take care of the protein taste for me.
ReplyDeleteHello! I am about to start the cleanse (waiting until after Thanksgiving) so was doing some research and came across your blog. I was curious about a couple of things. Do you happen to have any of the recipes that were your favorites? Also, did you eat lentils very often? I am having a hard time finding recipes for them. And finally, I noticed you used pineapple juice with your shakes...did you use a specific kind or juice your own? thank you!!!
